Winchester Systems Announces an Enhanced Enterprise Storage System
Switched Fibre Channel Technology, SBOD, Dramatically Increases Reliability and Performance

Burlington, MA. April 14, 2005. Winchester Systems, Inc., a leading data storage solutions company, today introduced an enhanced enterprise class storage system capable of supporting up to four Fibre Channel hosts and 224 disks of primary and secondary storage.

"Switched Fibre Channel offers superior performance and reliability over traditional arbitrated loop in large disk array applications", said Jerry Namery, CTO of Winchester Systems. "SBOD creates a point-to-point connection to each disk drive in the system eliminating the latency associated with loop architecture and making it easier to perform fault isolation".

"Having the ability to intermix Fibre Channel and SATA disks that are managed by the same redundant controller pair gives our customers the ability to offer different service levels within a single system. This means they can have their primary business applications and their secondary storage applications such as archiving quickly accessible and managed by a single system", stated Jan Sutton, Product Marketing Manager.

The FX-400e supports up to four direct-attached hosts and scales to 44 terabytes, while configurations of the FX-600e can support up to eight hosts or scale to 89 terabytes. The FlashDisk OpenSAN FX Series is well suited to database, OLTP, manufacturing, multimedia, financial, imaging, e-mail, and other disk intensive tasks, and for secondary storage such as disk-to-disk backup and archival requirements.

Included with every data storage solution is the FlashConsole appliance, providing complete centralized management using any browser-based workstation on the LAN. FlashAlert, a 24-hour "call-home" remote monitoring and alert service is also included for one year.
