OpenRAIDŽ Cuts
Development Time
for Rational ClearCaseŽ
Users Burlington, MA. July 26, 2001 -Winchester Systems today published a white paper entitled "Cutting Development Time". Geared towards Rational ClearCase users, this white paper discusses the performance benefits of FlashDisk and its role in the software development process. It also explains how software developers save valuable time. The two key functions of ClearCase are the "merge" and "build" operations. Both are highly automated tasks, but are extremely disk intense. By moving the principal software artifact repository (Version Object Base) that supports the Rational ClearCase version control system from internal disks to an external FlashDisk OpenRAID Disk Array, time for merges and builds are cut by 40% to 60%. The white paper further discusses FlashDisk's high availability advantages, fault tolerance, scalability, and an exceptionally fast return on investment (ROI). It is available for download at www.winsys.com/whitepapers/cuttingdevtime.php. Earlier in the year, Winchester Systems joined the Rational Unified Partner Program that supports over 500 participating partners. About
